Fluid Movement
“THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX’’
Location: London, England.
Project started in: 2018
Architect: Zac Chapman and Etienne Wijnen
This unique design celebrates circulation, using movement to define boundaries and create character. The proposal converts a 1970’s terrace house into a four bedroom modern home in London. On the ground floor a feature kitchen replaces the exisiting garage. The detailing of the units and cabinets flow into the dining area. The angle of the stairs naturally separates the entrance and provides a durable storage space. The stair case continues to wrap itself around the first floor living area, acting as a division as well as introducing hierarchy and rhythm. For the final flight to roof level the angle gently cranks back on itself creating a void that allows natural light into the lower floors. The top level features a penthouse style bedroom, ensuite and roof garden to completes the transformation.
